Ride for Food

The Ride for Food is an annual fundraising event held in September (it was on Sunday September 24 in 2017). The ride is presented by Three Squares New England and benefits more than 18 food security organizations in the Metrowest area.

The 2016 Ride for Food raised more than $440,000 overall, and the Wellesley Food Pantry had 10 riders raise almost $19,000 — all of which went directly to our organization (we raised the 10th most of 21 participating organizations and also had 4 people among the top 30 fundraisers). This money is crucial to our goal of providing clients with healthy and nutritious food options. These funds represent about one-third of the pantry’s annual budget, much of it being spent on fresh food supplies.

WFP needs riders, volunteers, and sponsors to support our participation in this critical fundraising event. We would like to have 15 riders and 10 volunteers to help out on the day of the race , as well as hundreds of supporters pledge money to contribute to our mission of providing healthy food choices for our Wellesley clientele.

Our 2017 goal is to reach $25,000! Please consider donating any amount to any of our riders: go to https://ride.threesquaresne.org/fundraise/team?ftid=49765 and select either the WFP Team or a team member to sponsor.

RIDE INFO: The ride begins and ends at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham and offers three routes: 12 miles, 25 miles, and 50 miles. Riders of at least 14 years of age can sign up to participate. Riders who raise at least $1,000 are eligible to win a wide range of prizes donated by sponsors.

To support the Wellesley Food Pantry you can sign up to ride and request sponsorships, pledge to support one of our team’s riders, or you can volunteer to assist with the event.
